Cyfrwng Award

This is a special and unique award presented by Cyfrwng to individuals with links to the academic world of media and the media industry – to acknowledge an exceptional contribution in the field of promoting the mass media in Wales.

Celebrated blacksmith Ann Catrin Evans from Caernarfon was commissioned to design and create the Cyfrwng Award trophy – a highly striking work designed from iron and slate. Ann Catrin's working title for the award is 'revolution' which conveys the contribution made by the recipients of this award to media and performance in Wales.

James Thomas Memorial Prize

The James Thomas Memorial Prize Essay competition was established in recognition of the contribution and vision of Dr James Thomas (1971–2007), co-founder of Cyfrwng and co-editor of the first three issues of the journal.

The aim of the annual prize is to encourage post-graduate students and early career scholars to contribute to debates within Welsh media by researching, writing and submitting for publication an article in the journal.
