Cyfrwng

Cyfrwng is an exciting project comprising of three inter-linked elements, a new interdisciplinary journal published annually by University of Wales Press, an annual peripatetic conference each April, and this active website.

The key aim of these three inter-linked elements of the Cyfrwng project is to provide a forum for the presentation of research and scholarly discussion concerning the media in Wales, namely film, television, new media, radio, journalism, theatre and performance studies.

James Thomas Memorial Prize

Cyfrwng is honoured to announce the James Thomas Memorial Prize Essay competition. Dr James Thomas (1971–2007) was co-founder of Cyfrwng and co-editor of the first three issues of the journal.

In recognition of his contribution and vision, Cyfrwng is proud to announce that an annual prize essay has been established in his name in order to encourage post-graduate students and early career scholars to contribute to debates within Welsh media by researching, writing and submitting for publication an article in the journal.
